Study: The whole-genome sequences of Gallus species (G. sonneratii, G. lafayetii G. varius) and Common Pheasant
show Abstracthide Abstract
These data were used to identify genome-wide introgression between domestic chicken and the wild Gallus species. If you use these data in your study, please do cite Lawal, R.A., et al. The wild species genome ancestry of domestic chickens. BMC Biol 18, 13 (2020). https://doi.org/10.1186/s12915-020-0738-1. In this study, we report genome-wide analyses for signatures of introgression between indigenous domestic village chicken and the four wild Gallus species. We resolved the phylogeny of the species and demonstrated that chicken was domesticated 8,000 years ago while the Gallus species began the process of divergence about 4 - 6 million years ago
